Preconstruction Services
For a project to achieve successful completion, the up front or Pre-construction work must be timely and reliable. All subsequent phases build upon the foundation laid during Design Development. Facchina-McGaughan provides knowledgeable professionals with vast experience in the construction industry, who put their expertise and F-M’s systems to work right from the start. Facchina-McGaughan provides estimating and budgeting services as well as constructability and value-engineering reviews to ensure that the project gets off on the right foot and has the maximum opportunity for success in subsequent phases.
Construction-Period Services
Building on the foundation of our Preconstruction Group, Facchina-McGaughan provides Construction services for all project delivery methods. Whether the contract vehicle is Lump Sum, CM at Risk / GMP, Design/Build or straight CM Services, Facchina-McGaughan brings unparalleled expertise to any project. Our Project Management teams are skilled in all of the widely-used management systems (such as Expedition, Prolog, Constructware, etc.). Combining this managerial expertise with the hands-on experience of our field staff creates a project team that communicates clearly, plans in detail and executes effectively while maintaining the flexibility needed to deal with the day-to-day uncertainties and variables inherent in any construction project.
Scheduling
Effectively controlling the workflow on any project is essential for on-time, on-budget completion. Facchina-McGaughan is a single source provider for all schedule services related to construction projects.
"Time is money”. Correctly implemented, a CPM schedule is a dynamic electronic model for any aspect of a program or a project. The main tenets of Facchina-McGaughan’s approach to scheduling are proper planning, early detection of problems, delay avoidance and a commitment to the schedule by all stakeholders. Drawing upon our construction expertise and superior technical abilities in CPM scheduling, Facchina-McGaughan is able to perform any aspect of schedule services to assure our clients that their schedule is a key to a successful project.
Commissioning
The comfort, productivity and job satisfaction of the ultimate customer in many ways rests with the quality of their immediate environment. Critical to Facchina-McGaughan’s management role is providing customers with the assurance that it is delivering to them facilities which meet or exceed their expectations for performance, efficiency, safety, and occupant satisfaction.
Integrating the process of commissioning into project delivery is one way Facchina-McGaughan provides the occupants and owners of its projects with this level of assurance. Facchina-McGaughan implements a system that translates expectations into documented and tangible facility results. Reduction in operating costs, enhanced energy efficiency, improved occupant safety, comfort and health, and increased maintainability are only a few of the proven benefits of commissioning.
Commissioning during construction is a well orchestrated quality process that includes installation, start-up, functional performance testing and training to ensure documented system performance in accordance with the Owner’s Project Requirements.
Risk Management
All projects and business ventures are subject to elements of uncertainty and risk. Recognizing this, Facchina-McGaughan has adopted a Risk Management (RM) process that provides an innovative and proactive approach to the management of risk, considering both threat and opportunity through the application of effective risk management techniques.
RM provides a practical and structured framework in which the identification, assessment, planning and management of risk is addressed in a methodical and focused manner. RM further seeks to allocate ownership of risk to the individual or party best equipped to manage it, by allowing participants to form a common understanding of the interfaces between each party, and of the impact of identified areas of potential risk and reward. Due to the cyclical nature of the RM process (through its promotion of feedback, learning and continuous improvement) the project objectives, work scope, roles, responsibilities and risk management plan are constantly revisited to allow the process to remain current and focused at all stages of the project. Risk Management therefore aids in generating a mutually supportive culture, and in this sense, goes hand-in-hand with Partnering as a means to assure the successful outcome of the project.
